how are they self-centered? i'm not trying to start something here. i am just curious. i haven't read the whole thing yet but there are some good thoughts here. like the one about the baby learning not to touch the hot stove from awareness and not fear. he's just showing a different way of thinking. like i said, i'm just curious in your reasoning.

I read the whole thing in less than half an hour. To me, it's a long, mostly empty book. All of the ideas are opinions, most are redundant, some are contradictory, none matter. It's a book that is supposed to bring you to peace, but that isn't something that can be explained. You are who you are.

Page 8: We may all be islands but we are not cut off from each other because islands do not float in the ocean. They are all connected under the water eventually.

Page 45: "Don't do anything you don't have to do." No one has to do anything, but that doesn't mean no one should do anything at all.

Page 110: There are more options than either beating something or joining it. You could always just let it go and not involve it in your life. This is one of the ideas that later contradicts itself.

But thanks either way for scanning it.

...aren't all ideas opinions? i know this book isn't for everyone, but for those that connect with it, i do think it helps a lot. i don't really understand your comment about pg 8 because that is what he is saying. & you're welcome, thanks for reading it.

it reminds me of kafka's The Zurau Aphorisms. but less. mostly because it's accepted that most of kafka's aphorisms are nonsensical so he isn't i guess claiming to know more than the rest of us, i think that makes it more truthful. this book just seems like it doesn't have that truth.
